It's long known that how you perform on the field, on the bike, on the course, or on the court, is largely determined by how well you are prepared for the opportunity. Many people focus on practice, preparation, and even diet and rest but many people forget one of the most fundamental aspects of human athletic capability. Hydration is necessary for any athletic activity in countless studies have shown if you aren't hydrated you are not going to perform up to your peak potential. What we know now is that pre-hydration is better than rehydration. Getting an IV before a long run, ride, or round of golf in the sun, especially in the hot dry west, will help you perform better and recover quicker than oral hydration alone. Sure, anyone can drink water. But are you drinking enough for your activities and conditions of your environment? I hope so or you should consider taking a "pre-hydration" experiment and see how you feel after your normal activities when you are fully hydrated for your body to do what it does naturally.
